CAPT Michael L. Detzky’s last billet before his retirement on 1 JAN 2013 was training officer for NR APPELLATE REVIEW ACTIVITY, supporting OJAG Code 20, Military Justice. He was the Commanding Officer of NR NAMARA GOVT supporting CODE 46, Appellate Government, from DEC 2010 to JAN 2012. He graduated with Highest Honors from Rutgers College in 1975 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from Rutgers Law School, Newark in 1978.

CAPT Detzky received a direct commission into the Navy Judge Advocate Generals Corps in December 1982. Since then he has amassed a great deal of experience and expertise in International/Operational law as a member of Reserve Units supporting Navy JAG, Code 10, International Law and the Ocean Law and Policy Department at the Naval War College.

He has served as the Senior Navy representative on five missions for the Defense Institute for International Legal Studies to the Republics of Panama and Zambia. CAPT Detzky also served as SJA onboard the USS Mese Verde for the joint PANAMAX 2009 exercise as well as the sole in country US Forces JAG for PANAMAX 2010. He also served as the Senior Navy JAG for Operation Key Resolve 2009 in the Republic of Korea. In August 2011 he was a special projects officer with the Fleet Judge Advocate for the U.S. Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy.


CAPT Detzky is an Attorney admitted to the Bars of New Jersey and New York concentrating in Immigration and Nationality Law and Consumer and Business bankruptcy matters.
