CMDCM(SW/AW) Robert “Bob” Barnett

Command Master Chief Barnett, a native of Santa Monica, CA, entered the U.S. Navy in May 1964, attending Boot Camp at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, CA, and retired after a 36-year career at Navy Expeditionary Security Group ONE, San Diego, CA in 2009.

During his career, he served in the following Sea Duty assignments:  Naval Base Pearl Harbor, HI, at 14th Naval District, Kilauea Military Camp, Volcanoes National Park, HI; Fleet Air Unit Whidbey Island, WA; Coastal Squadron ONE, CTF-115, Vietnam; Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) at NAS Cecil Field, FL and aboard USS FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT (CV 42) Mayport, FL; USS IMPLICIT (MSO 455) Tacoma, WA; USS BOLSTER (ARS 38) Long Beach, CA; USS CONQUEST (MSO-488) Seattle, WA;  Patrol Squadron 91 (VP-91) at NAS Moffett Field, CA; Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 61 (VR-61) at Whidbey Island, WA; Naval Coastal Warfare Group ONE, San Diego, CA; Navy Expeditionary Security Group ONE, San Diego, CA.

His shore duty assignments include Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity Pearl Det 222 (SIMA Pearl 222) Pearl Harbor, HI; Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Readiness Center, Portland, OR; Naval Reserve Readiness Command Five, Ravenna, OH; the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, DC; Navy Reserve Readiness Command Northwest, Everett, WA; and Readiness Command South, Fort Worth, TX;

Master Chief Barnett’s military education includes various leadership schools, safety schools, and the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Newport, RI (Class 80) Brown Group.  Other education includes college at Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles, CA; Golden West College, Huntington Beach, CA; and Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, OR.

He earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.

Master Chief Barnett's significant personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Combat Action Ribbon and numerous Service, campaign and unit awards.
