
After January 31, 2025, all VA website and mobile apps will require using either Login.gov or ID.me. The option of My HealtheVet user ID and password will be discontinued. MyHealtheVet will continue to offer the same conveniences and content, the only difference is with the login.
This change in access choices enables the Department of Veterans Affairs and, at the end of September 2025, the Department of Defense to streamline the number of sign-in options and meet the latest in federal security standards.
Login.gov accounts are maintained by the U.S. government, while ID.me accounts are managed by a non-government partner. Both accounts offer access to manage VA benefits and care—as well as other government benefits—online.
Immediate action should be taken if you have not already created an account with Login.gov or ID.me. Detailed explanations for choosing your account provider and step-by-step instructions for each option are available on the VA website's Preparing for VA’s Secure Sign-In Changes page.
Those who encounter difficulties may obtain assistance through Ask VA. ID.me assistance can be obtained through a help desk at 877-327-0022, submitting a request via a 24/7 online ticketing system, sending an email to VA.support@id.me, or connecting with an automated chatbot or live chat with an ID.me agent from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (ET).
