Any female service member may change their name after retirement. To do so you will need to write a letter requesting an official name change. In the letter specify your old name and the requested new name. Include in your request a copy of the marriage certificate, copy of new spouse's social security card and copy of spouse's birth certificate. Once received by Navy Personnel Command, NPC will contact you by letter. Send material to:
