J. Miguel Santos, Boeing Commercial Airplanes Director, International Sales for Africa and Middle East, was elected as Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in the United Kingdom.
The RAeS, as it is officially known, is the oldest aeronautical society in the world, founded in 1866 for the “general advancement of Aeronautical Art, Science and Engineering ... and to increase by experiments our knowledge of Aeronautics.”
The grade of Fellow is the most senior full membership grade for those who have long experience of high quality and have achieved a position of high responsibility. Miguel has been with The Boeing Company for 31.5 years, having held positions in advanced engineering, marketing, product marketing, customer requirements and sales. His most recent successes in sales was the eight airplane 777 Family sale to PIA in October 2002, the single largest capital goods contract signed in the history of Pakistan where PIA was the launch customer for the 777-200LR, the 777 -200ER and 737 -700 sale to TAAG Angola Airlines, the 737-700 sale to SONAIR in Angola and the All Boeing Fleet sale of 777-300ER + 787-8 + 737-800 to Bangladesh Airlines, again the single largest capital goods deal in the history Bangladesh.
