Baseball Great Bob Feller Honored with Lone Sailor Award
Many Americans responded to the news of the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, by volunteering to serve in the military. On December 9, 1941 Cleveland Indians star pitcher Robert W. “Bob” Feller did just that, becoming the first of 500 Major League players to enlist during the war.
