July 2011 - Navy
By Jerry Featherstone
The 2nd Annual AUSN Golf Tournament was a huge
success. The proceeds from the event will support
The Navy Safe Harbor Foundation (NSHF). NSHF
provides direct support to seriously injured, wounded
or ill Sailors and Coast Guardsmen to include their families.
The support consists of respite care, financial support specialized
equipment housing/rental support and legal support.
Thanks for what you do, Navy Safe Harbor Foundation.
Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors this year
including Revision Eyewear and Featherstone Consulting,
LLC but a special thank you goes out to our “Key Sponsor”
this year, AECOM, providing hole sponsorship and for the
second year in a row, multiple teams. Without our sponsors,
this event would not be possible.
For the second straight year, we were joined by Mr. Michael
Arrington, U.S. Army (Ret), Vietnam Veteran and father of
NFL Football great and Former Washington Redskin Lavar
Arrington. Mr. Michael Arrington provided us with his unique
perspective of the value of organizations like NSHF in the
recovery from injury. Michael, if you did not receive it then,
we offer it to you now....“Welcome Home from Vietnam,” and
thank you for your service to this country.
Thank you to our member volunteers from the National
Capital Region, Mid Atlantic Region and Friends Of the Navy
(FON). Your enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude was
like sunshine. We look forward to your continued support at
all of the events hosted by the Association of the United States
Navy. See you all next year.
Finally, a welcomed guest and Navy Reserve Force Master
Chief Ronney Wright joined us. He and his relief, CMDCM
Chris Wheeler (pictured) took time out of their busy day and
turn-over to add their thank you to NSHF. Force “14” Wheeler,
we welcome you and Dawn to D.C. and we look forward
to supporting you in any way possible. Thank you for your
service. Force “13” Wright, it has been a pleasure to serve
you. Thank you for your service. Please know that AUSN
just like the Navy Reserve is “Ready Now. Anytime,
Anywhere.” We wish to you and Donna the traditional
“Fair Winds and Following Seas.”
