August 2010 Navy
by John Eric Lindell
Shipmates!! It is hot here in Texas, around 95 to 100 daily. But it is NOT as HOT as it is going to be in Las Vegas 25-28 August 2010. After all, the Association of the United States Navy will be celebrating our National Conference in that city with EVERY ONE of YOU WHO CAN ATTEND. Not only is it going to be hot, weather-wise, but some of you will have great luck at the games contained therein.
If you can make it to Las Vegas, I can promise you a low room price and some real ACTION with REAL PREDATORS at Nellis Air Force Base on Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Maureen and I will be in Las Vegas before 1000 hours, so we will see everything they have to offer. IN FACT, YOU SHOULD BE THERE TO SEE A VARIETY OF INTERESTING DISPLAYS. It is really going to be some SPECTACULAR AFTERNOON.
Then, on Thursday, we will have a SpecOps/SEAL Team Display. A couple of our members are a part of the SEAL Team. I hope they will be able to make the meeting. Be there to observe and learn. What do you think they are going to destroy? That evening, y’all come to the President’s Reception. It should be a fun time for everyone.
ATTENDING THIS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS VERY IMPORTANT.
Captain John Farr and the Strategic Planning Committee met in Alexandria, Virginia, at the Headquarters building to review how we are going to operate in the future. We will be voting on the use of a Board of Directors and will discuss how to move from an Executive Committee to a Board. There are a lot of new positions for people to be elected. There is a lot to consider; and because of the volume of papers to read, I have asked the Committee to disclose their plans in advance. That way, everyone has the information so they can read it carefully and consider what is going to occur.
And with the change, we have to think about how to vote. Right now, we have Districts and each attending member shares the number of votes within the District. Will each person have a vote? You need to be there to find out and exercise your vote to influence what will happen in the future.
