AUSN News Articles
02

Alexandria, VA (10/02/09) – RADM Case Coane (Ret), Executive Director of the Association of the United States Navy (AUSN), expressed shock at the Defense Department’s surprise announcement that it was raising hospital inpatient co-payments by $110 per day for retired service members, their family members and survivors covered by TRICARE Standard as of October 1st.

President Obama and DoD assured AUSN, other association, and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any TRICARE fees for FY2010. The entire military community took them at their word, and AUSN can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward.

The current TRICARE Standard inpatient co-payment for military retirees is $535 a day. The announced increase of $110 is more than a 20 percent jump. Unlike the previous three years, Congress has included no provisions prohibiting TRICARE fee increases in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2010, apparently also believing the Pentagon would follow the President’s lead. Final action on the 2010 NDAA is yet to be completed, so there is still a possibility that Congress could stop this action.

AUSN along with other associations is asking the President and the Secretary of Defense to stop this increase from taking effect. AUSN is addressing this issue with Congress.

AND WE ARE SURPRISED he (OBAMA) would not honor or protect the Millitary. He clearly stated he was going to CHANGE this country. We arel seeing a reversal of the years of improvement in all areas of the military, "equipment cuts, personnel, training, and cuts in the promises made to the military to take care of them and their families if they would only go in "Harms way".
I strongly request anyone reading this and any true report of a reducion of Active, Reserve, or Retiree benefits, that you email your elected officals. AND followup with your vote next election and put the non-supporters of the military "ON THE STREET" if they demostrate their lack of support for the miltitary.

They have fought the good fight and now must also bear the ill fruits of a President who wants to destroy whatever medical benefits left to retirees. I am going to ensure that my elected few in TN understand that any further such actions by thiis President will make military members wary of seeking military careers; and that their own congressional careers will be at stake the next time they come up for election. This man was raised in HI, went to one of the finest private schools on Oahu, avoided the military, came to the mainland and married a socialist and intends on making sure that we are all taken to the same level and made to share the wealth. He does intend to make sure that we pay for those others who never opted for insurance coverage, insist the middle class take care of them and reduce what we earned according to the law!

Like many others I put in 28 years in the military. It's truely a disgrace to have our present gov't tamper with an earned right like Tricare. We don't deserve this at all.

We need to vote in 2010 and get America we knew back.

Here is an interesting editorial from someone outside our country as to what is going on!
Telegraph.co.uk by Gerald Warner

Why does President OBAMA hate America so badly?

If al-Qaeda, the Taliban and the rest of the Looney Tunes brigade want to kick America to death, they had better move in quickly and grab a piece of the action before Barack Obama finishes the job himself. Never in the history of the United States has a president worked so actively against the interests of his own people - not even Jimmy Carter.

Obama's problem is that he does not know who the enemy is. To him, the enemy does not squat in caves in Waziristan, clutching automatic weapons and reciting the more militant verses from the Koran: instead, it sits around at tea parties in Kentucky quoting from the US Constitution. Obama is not at war with terrorists, but with his Republican fellow citizens. He has never abandoned the campaign trail.

That is why he opened Pandora's Box by publishing the Justice Department's legal opinions on waterboarding and other hardline interrogation techniques. He cynically subordinated the national interest to his partisan desire to embarrass the Republicans. Then he had to rush to Langley , Virginia to try to reassure a demoralized CIA that had just discovered the President of the United States was an even more formidable foe than al-Qaeda.

"Don't be discouraged by what's happened the last few weeks," he told intelligence officers. Is he kidding? Thanks to him, al-Qaeda knows the private interrogation techniques available to the US intelligence agencies and can train its operatives to withstand them - or would do so, if they had not already been outlawed.

So, next time a senior al-Qaeda hood is captured, all the CIA can do is ask him nicely if he would care to reveal when a major population centre is due to be hit by a terror spectacular, or which American city is about to be irradiated by a dirty bomb. Your view of this situation will be dictated by one simple criterion: whether or not you watched the people jumping from the twin towers.

President Pantywaist's recent world tour, cozying up to all the bad guys, excited the ambitions of America ?s enemies. Here, they realized, is a sucker they can really take to the cleaners.

His only enemies are fellow Americans.
