The Facts!
Reserve Retirement for Guard and Reserve members was improved by a provision in the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). It became effective from the date the President signed the NDAA into law, thus excluding all those that had been mobilized since 9-11-2001. This is not what we all pressed for in the original legislation. Congress changed it.
Early Retirement falls SHORT, You need to assist in getting it fixed.
- Congress passed Early Retirement in FY 08 NDAA
- 90 days reduction for 90 day deployed service.
- All earlier service excluded, prior to passage of FY 08 NDAA
- Service between 9/11/2001 and 1/27/2008 is excluded and doesn't count.
- Over 615,000 Guard and Reserve have been mobilized since 9/11.
- These individuals will have to do additional service to reduce their retirement age.
- NRA original supporter of improvements for Reserve Retirement!
- Working with Rep. Joe Wilson (SC), & others for a corrective measure - HR 4930.
- Wilson's Bill, H.R. 4930 changes eligibility back to 9/11/2001.
