The Voice for America's Sailors

About AUSN

The Association of the United States Navy (AUSN), located in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, is the leading voice for America’s Sailors and the premier advocate for a strong Navy. Founded in 1954, and 22,000-members strong, AUSN has long enjoyed its distinguished reputation with the Navy and Congress as an honest broker in the discussion of Navy requirements and programs. As the only organization dedicated to advocating for Navy equipment and benefits for all members of the Navy—active and reserve; officer, enlisted, and civilian; serving, veteran, and retired; and their families—AUSN informs and educates members of Congress and their staffs on issues of importance to the Navy.

AUSN provides Sailors a comprehensive range of services to support the work of our Nation’s servicemen and women, including record reviews and audits, in-zone notification for promotion, Board of Correction of Naval Records case preparation, and Survivor Benefit Plan and Retired Pay estimates. In addition to these services, our experienced Headquarters Membership staff is available to assist with member questions.

AUSN also actively engages with its membership and industry and Navy leadership through its bi-monthly magazine, Navy, its weekly e-newsletter and legislative updates, and through social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and blogs. AUSN empowers its members with timely information, and provides accurate interpretations of the issues facing our veterans and servicemen and women today and educates them on how they can respond and participate.

AUSN Events

Capitol Hill Reception

The annual Capitol Hill Reception is an event that recognizes two Members of Congress and two professional Congressional staff for National Legislative Advocacy and Proponent Awards. Hosted by AUSN, and with the participation of members of the Navy and Marine Corps Caucus, this event provides a unique opportunity for Members of Congress, their staffs, invited guests, AUSN corporate partners, and senior leaders of the Department of the Navy to meet early in the legislative year to discuss upcoming concerns and priorities with annual Authorization and Appropriation bills.

Navy Now Forums

The Navy Now Forum takes the concept of high-power lunches to a whole new level. As the only event of its kind, this luncheon is a rare opportunity for business leaders to meet senior Navy officials in a setting that offers ample networking time. Attendees will develop new relationships and deepen existing ones with others who share an interest in strengthening today’s Navy. Defense industry professionals will find this event vital to understanding the Navy’s initiatives to man, train, and equip the fleet in today’s economic and operational climate.

Career Development Symposium

In 2013, AUSN will host its first ever Career Development Symposium to provide Sailors, officers and enlisted, with the tools they need to manage their careers and be effective leaders and mentors. Topics, including leadership, professional education, joint qualification, ethics, and promotion and advancement will be presented and discussed in a forum that promotes dialogue and interaction with senior officers, enlisted leaders, and experts in their respective fields.
